A Southern California native, Dr. Moore earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Choral Music from the University of Southern California (USC), his Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and his Doctoral Degree in Conducting from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, New York.

Prior to coming to Wichita, Dr. Moore served as the Adjunct Director of Choral Activities at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. and the Director of Music at Western Presbyterian Church in Palmyra, N.Y. He has held faculty positions at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva, NY; The Young Musicians Foundation, Los Angeles, CA; Esperanza Azteca Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles; and served as Associate Conductor of the Eastman-Rochester Chorus and Chorale.

He is an educator, conductor and baritone known for his energetic yet sensitive conducting and his rich baritone voice. Dr. Moore has an extensive choral conducting resume and is a versatile performer. He has sung back up for The Rolling Stones, Barry Manilow, Patti Austin, Andrea Bocelli, Kathleen Battle and Deborah Voigt. He specializes in topics on conducting pedagogy, concert programming and interpreting music of the Baroque and African American spirituals.

A recipient of several conducting awards, Dr. Moore’s mentors include William Weinert, Robert Istad, Donald Brinegar, Brad Lubman, Joel Pressman, Jo-Michael Scheibe, Cristian Grases, Mark Scatterday, and Neil Varon. As a conducting fellow at several programs, Moore has worked with Ann Howard-Jones, John Alexander, Jerry Blackstone, David Hayes, and Daniel Bara.

He is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, National Collegiate Choral Organization, the National Association for Music Education, and is sought after as a guest conductor, clinician, speaker, and adjudicator.

Dr. Moore is looking forward to his work with the Chorale and preparing for its  concert season. Dr. Moore said, “I consider it a great privilege to join the Wichita Chamber Chorale as their new Artistic Director and Conductor. I am eager to make music that inspires a spirit of community and continued choral excellence in Wichita. What an exciting opportunity to work with these incredible musicians!”

Dr. Moore began his work with the Chorale in July of 2020. He is the fourth Director to lead WCC, following the tenures of Drs. Michael Pohlenz, Robert Glasmann, and Mark Bartel. Dr. Moore is also the Director of Choral Studies at Friends University and serves as Assistant Professor of Music. At Friends, Dr. Moore oversees the choral program, conducts the internationally renowned Singing Quakers, and teaches courses in conducting, choral methods, and applied voice.
